Specifications : Soda Ash GOST 5100-85 Soda ash technical (sodium carbonate) is a powder or granules of white color. Chemical formula – Na2CO3 Soda ash is a hygroscopic product; in the air it absorbs humidity and carbon dioxide forming acid salt Na2CO3, It cakes (consolidate) when stored in the open air. Water solutions of soda ash have a strong alkali reaction. Soda Ash is available in 2 grades: soda ash A grade (granulated) and B grade (powdered). Quality characteristics Applications of Soda Ash
Soda ash A and B grade has a number of diversified uses: - Glass industry , in the production of different kinds of glass, including crystal, optical and medical glass, glass blocks, foam glass, sodium silicate soluble, ceramic tile, frit for glaze. - Ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, in the production of lead, zinc, wolframium, strontium, chromium, for desulphurization and phosphorous removal of cast iron, for fume cleaning, for media neutralization. - Soda ash A grade, of the best quality and with strongly rated granularity is being used in for the production of electron-tube glass. Soda ash B grade finds application in the chemical industry for the production of synthetic detergents and fat acids, in the brine refining, in the production of phosphoric, chromic, barium, sodium salts; in the production of glycerols and allyl alcohol; in pulp and paper, aniline dye, paint and oil industries. Packing, transportation, storage Soda ash is packed into 50 kg paper bags, in soft special disposable 800 kg (A grade) and 500 kg (B grade) containers. Soda ash is transported in bulk – in tank-trucks and hoppers, if packed into soft special containers –in open and covered wagons by railway. Soda ash if packed into bags is transported by any mode of transport protected from ingress of moisture. Guaranteed storage life for soda ash A grade – 3 months, B grade – 6 months; if packed into special containers – 5 years since the date of manufacture |
